Young Scientist Award

The SMRS Young Scientist Awards will be presented to outstanding individuals who are starting their professional careers in soft materials. This award will be given to early-stage researchers during the first two years of their award of PhD degree. Support will be provided in terms of covering the conference registration fee, a free two year membership of SMRS and a commemorative plaque .
Each SMRS Young Scientist Awardee will give their oral presentation during a special award session during conference. Applicants must be current members of SMRS and must agree to write a one-page report of the conference.

Eligibility: The Awards are intended for students/PhD-students who are SMRS members and are the presenting author of either oral or poster presentations.
Application: Candidates should submit a copy of their documents:
-- a copy of their abstract
-- proof of paper acceptance
-- proof of studentship
-- proof of SMRS membership
-- CV (2 pages max.)
-- cover letter detailing their motivation (1 page max.)
-- nomination letter by a current member of SMRS.

Such applications will be reviewed by a panel of referees with final decisions made by the SMRS committee and name of selected candidates will be announced on website. Awardees have to write and submit a short report on the conference. The poster and/or oral presentation(s) presented by awardees at the conference must include the following acknowledgment: “[NAME] acknowledges Soft Materials Research Society for student fellowship award”.
